About SourceLean

Why we built an evidence-first guide to weight-loss supplements.

SourceLean exists for one reason: the weight-loss supplement space is full of hype, and it’s genuinely hard to tell what’s actually inside the products being marketed to you. We built SourceLean to cut through that — a no-hype, evidence-first guide to weight-loss supplements and the ingredients inside them.

What we do

We profile weight-loss formulas and break them down the way we’d want them broken down for us: what’s in them, what the research actually says about those ingredients, the doses studies use versus what’s on the label, and an honest note when a product hides its amounts behind a proprietary blend.

Our clarity score

Every formula gets a clarity score out of 100. It measures one thing: label transparency — how openly a product discloses its ingredients and doses. It is deliberately not a rating of effectiveness. A transparent label doesn’t guarantee results, but it does let you make an informed decision, which is the whole point.

How we stay honest

  • We flag undisclosed doses and proprietary blends instead of glossing over them.
  • We note when an ingredient’s dose is below what research uses.
  • We describe what ingredients are designed to do, without promising outcomes.
  • We tell you when the evidence for something is weak or early-stage.

How we’re funded

SourceLean is reader-supported. Some links on the site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we write: our breakdowns, clarity scores, and honest dose notes are the same whether or not a product has an affiliate program. Checkout always happens on the merchant’s official website.

A note on expectations

No supplement is a substitute for a balanced diet, physical activity, sleep, and medical care. The formulas we cover are, at best, supporting players. We’ll always tell you that — because the honest answer is more useful than the exciting one.
